Munich Re Madrid is responsible for the whole relation for national and multinational clients based in Spain and Portugal. Main target is to mantain and expand the current very strong and profitable business relationships (Traditional & Non Traditional) through exploring, detecting customer needs and developing new realistic business inititives or new business models with the clients.

The Client Manager should prioritize and coordinate all activities and initiatives with the clients, managing external stakeholders and also internally with the different units involved within the Munich Re Group.

Your job

  • Managing all clients and broker relationship through leadership of the Client Teams (spread across Munich Re Madrid, Head Office in Munich and other International units within Munich Re Organization -including Ergo and MEAG). The Role includes to define, in collaboration with the Client Management Executive, a client strategy and individual action plans, prioritization of different initiatives and planning of required resources (including underwriters and specialists)
  • Developing and maintaining in-depth understanding of local and regional clients needs, thereby identifying client´s key strategic priorities, growth areas, challenges and reinsurance buying motivation (in close cooperation with Financials Analysts, Specialty teams, Life and Health team, Single Risk areas and Munich Re international organisation)
  • Defining and implementing client-specific sales strategies for our range of products and services, preparing high-quality and client-specific sales presentations (pitch books)
  • Lead reinsurance negotiations with clients and brokers and closely coordinate renewal strategies across the Client Teams.
  • Build and manage Munich Re relationships with all levels of stakeholders and units (internally and externally)
  • Proactively identifying growth areas for Munich Re and generating new business opportunities. Special focus on capital Management solutions in close cooperation with Internal Expert Units.
  • High capacity for innovation combined with creativity, initiative and entrepreneurship.
  • Co-creation efforts on the products side to tackle the current and future challenges and needs of the insureds, as well as developing distribution strategies for specific markets and client segments via new and established platforms.
  • Data analytics projects in order to obtain better insights into what might provide a competitive advantage to all clients.
  • Working closely with the Client Management Executive in further developing the relationship with key C-suite level stakeholders, originating and taking decisions regarding all topics arising in the clients relationships, particularly regarding comprehensive client strategies, business development objectives and annual planning.
  • Your profile

  • Strongly pronounced sales orientation coupled with the ability to build viable, sustainable relationships with important decision-makers in the clients organizations and with sales partners.
  • Passion for a “one team” approach, motivating and coordinating a highly qualified and experienced Client Teams spread across different locations and units.
  • Skills and experience in managing cross-departmental projects.
  • +5 years of proffesional experience in similar functions.
  • Very good understanding of primary insurance and reinsurance; relevant underwriting know how, ideally in different lines of business.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and capital management (accounting and reporting standards, accounting and supervisory regulations)
  • Knowledge of marketing and sales concepts: ability to transfer results of analyses into sales pitch. Strong presentation skills.

  • Highly motivated and dedicated, ability to integrate and motivate others, team player.
  • Business-fluent written and spoken Spanish and English.
