About the Team:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Principal possesses a maturing vision for their evolving market at local, regional and global levels, which they combine with exceptional research and analytical skills to produce pragmatic and/or provocative research for Gartner clients. They also meet regularly with Gartner’s clients via in-person or virtual meetings to discuss complex client challenges and offer solutions. This position offers opportunities to create and deliver compelling presentations at Gartner conferences, industry events and sales support visits.


Knowledge of application integration, potentially including integration technologies, such as iPaaS, ESBs or open source platforms, API-centric, code-based or event-based integration in order to:

Conduct research and advise clients on approaches to tackling the common architectural, technical and organizational challenges associated with application integration

Study and assess application integration vendors and their capabilities

Conduct research and craft in-depth content that demonstrate awareness of best practices and strategies in order to guide clients to the best actions for them and their organizations

Suggest analyses to run on complex datasets and identify potential problems in quantitative analysis

Apply critical thinking skills to de-construct and frame challenging client questions

Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactions

Develop presentation materials for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings

Collaborate across Gartner research groups to ensure research, presentations, and positions provide the best actions and advice for our clients

Support Sales and Service and other internal stakeholders to drive proactive engagement towards clients’ relevant research key initiatives

Collaborate with team members on content area key initiatives and emerging areas/trends

Participate in research community meetings to discuss research issues and collaborate effectively with peers

Provide high quality and timely research content peer review


Some hands-on experience delivering application integration and/or tackling the associated challenges

Knowledge of application integration vendors

Experience working with or within a software engineering team

A life-long learner and versatilist, with an insatiable curiosity and desire for knowledge and learning

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

5-8 years of relevant field or industry experience

Ability to work independently and as a team player, supporting the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team

Demonstrate superior analytical skills while applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions

Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables

Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions

Ability to demonstrate use of quantitative techniques to come up with solutions for clients

Business and financial acumen

Ability to demonstrate executive presence; Can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders as well as offer contrary points of view in order to influence others

Strong learning agility and ability to absorb research methodology

Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% (where applicable)
